"CAKE"

Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this?" or "Why did God have to do this to me?" Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."

"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.

"Yuck" says her daughter."

How about a couple raw eggs?"

"Gross, Mom!"

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"

"Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!"

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well enjoy each day.

Funny Friday Giggle

A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote 'Revelation 3:20' on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, 'Genesis 3:10.'

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins, 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock.' Genesis 3:10 reads, 'I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was naked.'

Funny Friday: Wedding Joke

Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, "Why is the bride dressed in white?"

"Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life."

The child thought about this for a moment, then said, "So why is the groom wearing black?"

"Independence Day" poem

"Independence Day"
by Del "Abe" Jones, 2006

In the year of 1776
That paper was decreed -
They were tired of oppression
And wanted to be freed.

They wrote a Declaration
So the whole world would see -
This was, " home
And the land of the free".

They signed that piece of parchment
The leaders of this land -
Knowing, divided they would fall
But, together they could stand.

A new world lay before them
Untamed from shore to shore -
They swore they would protect it
if it meant going to war.

Battles have been fought -
And many lives have been lost -
So sad something so basic
Has such a high, high cost.

Seems freedom is a luxury
There's some would bind us all -
Like then, together, we can stand
But divided, we will fall.

More than two hundred years
Have past by since that day
That each of us celebrate
In our own different way.

We should be proud and thankful
Pay our share of the cost -
Not take freedom for granted
For it easily could be lost.

Flag Day

Sunday's Scripture: Restoration

God is in the RESTORATION business: He specializes in broken and messed up people. (See Philippians 1:6 and Ephesians 2:10)

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." (Acts 3:19)

Something new for the blog: Sunday's Scripture

"Each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 4:10-11)

A Quote to Ponder

from the Les Miserables book:

"The pupil dilates in the night and at last finds day in it, even as the soul dilates in misfortune, and at last finds God in it." ~ Jean Valjean: Book Three - Chapter One

NOTICE: Lack of posts

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but I'm being treated for a knee problem and doing physical therapy. It's making me tired and "out of it" so I haven't felt up to doing a post every night, as usual. I'm also looking for some more written material to post so the blog will have more than just pictures.
